Collect Moments Not Things ~ Lifestyle Newborn Session by Kailey Nagymarosi

This month’s (i fact.. ouor very first) featured session is from brand-new Advanced Grad Kailey Nagymarosi… yes, she just finished up last week, and her photos are so beautiful it was the perfect way to kick off our new monthly series… to share with you a deeper peek into the inspiring sessions being taken by our talented community!

Along with shooting and building a portfolio, Kailey is a mama, wife, and youth counsellor based in the Durham Region of Ontario, Canada. Exciting things are happening for Kailey as she’s also working on developing a website, and in the meantime you can find her fabulous work on Instagram and Facebook.

So it is with a glowing mama pride that we show off this fabulous lifestyle newborn session she shot recently.

Kailey set the scene with her subjects, to ensure she could capture this family in the way she envisioned…

Kailey Says…

It was a warm Sunday morning and I could not wait to set aside my weekend responsibilities to catch up with my best friend and record some memories for her as they welcomed the newest addition to her now family of five.

This family is genuine, kind and loving with each other and the simple things in life and I wanted to capture the essence of them.

I stopped along the way for fresh flowers and pastries for the new mama and her family, as although I had the advantage of knowing them very well, it was a priority to help them feel at ease with me behind the camera.

Also as they had never had professional photos taken at home, I knew they were unsure of what to expect. So I helped them relax by letting them know I was there to capture them as they are, and suggested they simply slow down and enjoy the moment.

Over the next couple of hours I proceeded to photograph the day as it unfolded. We started with everyone together in their light filled master bedroom, and then the proud siblings with their baby brother. When mama took breaks to feed the little ones showed me their special things, and we even got in a little sneaky jump on the bed!

We eventually went out to enjoy the beautiful day, walking along a trail behind their home. At times we found some small breaks from the full sun, and ended with baby sleeping for a brief peaceful moment in the warm shade.

I love lifestyle sessions for the opportunity to capture a typical day, and the special moments that sneak in between the hectic family routine. This evening I received a message from my friend, which included a picture her eldest had drawn, telling of the fun she had with her mom, dad and brothers at the session. My heart exploded… I love that I am forever a part of such a special day.

“I’m beginning to recognize that real happiness isn’t something large and looming on the horizon ahead but something small, numerous and already here. The smile of someone you love. A decent breakfast. The warm sun. Your little everyday joys all lined up in a row.” ~ Beau Christopher Taplin
