Have you ever had an idea in your head to capture a gorgeous shot…. something you’d planned for, and visualised how it would turn out… but then it just didn’t work out?
Photography is a creative endeavor, and there will be times where we simply don’t get the shot we’d hoped for! Maybe we capture something better, maybe we have to take stock, and try again another time!
This is all completely normal, and in order to avoid stress and frustration it’s important to have clear and realistic expectations!
Last weekend I was time poor, but I had so wanted to take some images of my daughter that I’d been thinking about and planning…
but it was cold
but she wasn’t interested
but the light just wasn’t quite right
and so… we called it a day! It wasn’t happening at that moment and so instead of feeling frustrated and stressed (which I would have in the past) I knew I’d be able to get organised and have another go later! I let her pull a couple of goofy faces… and I did get this one lovely b&w which is sweet – so not all lost!
So I’ll try again this week… or maybe I’ll use the headpiece for an inside backlit shot – or maybe I’ll check out the winter trees in a local park… so many creative opportunities to explore, as long as we’re in the right frame of mind!
Goodluck, and have fun! Xx
This was as good as I was getting! There’s always another go!
