Imagine having the skills to create photos that are so consistent in style, people recognise them as yours before they even see your name?
That’s the power that having total creative control will give you.
Our Enthusiast Photography Course liberates our students as it frees them from the uncertainty and inconsistency of auto mode! But eventually they’re ready for the next steps… more creative control. And that’s where our Advanced Photography Course comes in. In a nutshell, the Advanced Course is for when your images are good, but you’re ready for AMAZING!
Over 12 weeks of in depth lessons, fully supported by our instructors who will provide expert feedback on your photos every step of the way, you will come away with a deeper understanding of the intricacies of light, an eye for more complex, creative compositions, and the higher level technical skills to shoot in any light conditions. You’ll have the skills and confidence to shoot in any light situation, and know how to plan and execute a vision exactly as it appears in your imagination. You will start taking the kind of beautifully dynamic, visually powerful images that make people stop scrolling and say “wow!”.
And with that, I’m excited to introduce you to Brooke Hampson! She graduated from our Enthusiast Course with an ability to shoot in manual mode and a foundation in light and composition, and a craving for ultimate creative control! Read on to discover how the Advanced Course turned her photography into one of the most easily recognisable styles in our Grad’s group!
I’m a mum of two young children, a boy aged 4 and a girl aged 2, and we live in a very small town in Far North Queensland which is one of the wettest, greenest places you will ever come across!
I’m also a part time primary school teacher, and I have a part time photography business under my married name – Brooke Davis Photography. I mostly capture families, newborns and maternity. My favourite thing to capture aside from this is my own children, and when I find time away from the family I love to dabble in macro and a bit of fine art photography.
Prior to Click Love Grow I was always drawn to photography but was just using my iPhone. This wasn’t satisfying enough for me and having my two children made me realise that I wanted better quality images and more creativity control. From this I made the decision to invest in my first big girl camera for my birthday in March of 2020 – a Canon 200D MkII DSLR with a kit lens.
Once I got my camera, I realized there was a whole lot of learning to do to be able to use it properly (ie. not in auto mode!). But I got super frustrated and could not for the life of me work out how to use Manual mode!
So I decided to find a course that could help me and stumbled across the CLG Enthusiast Photography Course. I learned how to master my camera and the foundations of light and composition, and from there I knew I wanted to get into the nitty gritty of photography, so I jumped into the Advanced Course straight after! I knew that’s what I had to do if I wanted to use my new found manual skills to their full potential.
I can’t pinpoint a particular lesson that jumps out over and above any other, as I feel every lesson was really relevant, and formed important building blocks to my photography knowledge and growth.
But for me personally, my biggest lightbulb moment from the course was understanding light and the importance it has in all photos, no matter what genre and feel you are going for. I am continuously looking at light wherever I am and I have learnt to read light like I never thought possible!
The Advanced course opened my eyes to this and I have worked hard to continue to build upon this skill every time I pick up my camera.
When I joined the Advanced Course, I just wanted to know everything and anything! I was thirsty for knowledge and I loved the way the courses were set out. It was super easy to follow and participate (even while being a mum), and the weekly challenges kept me pushing myself and accountable.
My favourite part of the Advanced Course was being part of a really encouraging community of instructors that gave feedback on every skill set assigned. In fact this was the biggest draw card for me in joining the Advanced Course, because I loved this aspect of the Enthusiast Course.
I knew the instructors could tell me where I was being successful and where I wasn’t. This is how I knew I would grow quickly, because I knew I couldn’t always work it out for myself and I couldn’t always see my own photography faults nor strengths.
The instructors have so much to give and they critique you in a kind and encouraging way, but they also get you to dig deep. They get you to be the best version of yourself and make you believe you can do it!
If you are considering the Advanced Course, I say just do it! Invest in yourself!
There is so much to learn about photography that you don’t even consider, because you don’t know what you don’t know, and it’s all these small parts of the puzzle that make the big picture.
CLG helped me find all of the little parts a whole lot faster and pushed me to the next level and places I didn’t even know I could go! Thanks, CLG!
We love a before and after set of images to show off how far our students came on our courses! Check it out…
