Meet Amy
Hi! I’m Amy! I’ve been married to my amazing husband for 17 years, and we have a very cheeky little 5-year old boy who is starting school this year.
We live in North Lakes, a small town just north of Brisbane in sunny Queensland, Australia.
I’m in my early 40’s, and living my dream as a professional photographer. I wear my heart on my sleeve, and meeting new people and spending time with their kids just lights up my days.
In my spare time, I love exploring the outdoors camping, swimming and traveling, but you can also often find me chilling on the couch enjoying my coffee addiction – it is my editing fuel! And most importantly, my friends and family mean the absolute world to me.
Dreaming Of Going Pro
I have always loved photography, it has always been something that truly made my soul happy. I remember attending weddings as a guest and watching the wedding photographer thinking ‘Oh I wish that was me!’
Becoming a professional photographer was my ultimate dream job – being able to capture all those precious memories and moments for people seemed like an amazingly rewarding role.
But lofty as my aspirations were, my technical and creative skills weren’t quite as robust! I had taken the CLG Enthusiast Photography Course so I was confident in manual mode. But I felt like I still needed more help to master changing my settings with the speed and confidence required for client work.
Plus, I always felt like my images where just a little flat. There was something missing – perhaps it was creativity, perhaps it was connection….
I couldn’t quite pinpoint exactly what was missing, I just knew my work wasn’t where I wanted it to be.
Most importantly, I wanted to ensure that my clients could hire me with confidence, trusting that I had the skills and training behind me to be responsible for their most important life events.
Upskilling & Building Confidence
At the completion of the Enthusiast Course, I had the opportunity to sign up for the next round of the Advanced Course.
It looked like the perfect next step to help me achieve my goal of getting my photography to a high enough standard for me to be able to pursue it as a career.
So I jumped in, and it was hands down the best investment I’ve ever made in myself!
Constant Support & Encouragement
From the very first lesson, I was hooked! The content was broken down and explained in ways that really made sense to me.
All of a sudden, I could see exactly how all the photographers I admired were creating such gorgeous images. It just clicked!
The most invaluable part of the course for me was the ability to go out and practice what was being taught in each lesson, then receiving feedback and going back out and giving it another go.
It was so encouraging to know that if I didn’t get something quite right on my first try, the instructor team was there to help me understand how I could improve and strengthen my images.
And not just the instructor team – the encouragement and support from my fellow students was amazing! No matter where in the world we were from or what our photography goals were, no question was ever wrong or silly. We all learned from each other.
Learning in a Community is Key
In fact, I believe my biggest takeaway from the Advanced Photography Course is that ongoing encouragement and support. Even after the course is finished, you continue to be part of the CLG Grads community. It’s such a fab space to continue my growth and learning.
I get such a confidence boost every time I see one of my images featured in the weekly Highlights Reel, or on the CLG Instagram feed. Plus having the opportunity to bounce ideas off my fellow grads has been super helpful.
It gave me the courage to grow my business and make it successful. Everything is touched on in this course.
Don’t Walk, Run!
If you’re on the fence about taking the Advanced Course, I can’t stress enough: Don’t walk, run!
This course has changed my life!
After years of dreaming of being a professional photographer, the Advanced Photography Course gave me the courage I needed to take the plunge and start my own photography business.
It’s turned out to be a successful little venture! I now work full time as a photographer. I have my own studio for families and newborn photography, with happy clients who return year after year. Last year, I expanded into wedding photography.
And it all started with one little click of “ENROL NOW”!
