When we first start learning photography, the goal is to take a good, technically sound photo. You know what I mean… well exposed, not blurry, nice and sharp, good light.
But once we’ve nailed it… it’s fair to say we all start craving to take not just good photos… but amazing photos.
Click Love Grow Grad Jypsie Cronan was no exception. Plus she had creative visions that she wanted the confidence to pull off.
Read on to discover how she got there…
Meet Jypsie
Hi, I’m Jypsie from the Riverina area of NSW, Australia. I’m a mum of three kids, aged 4, 8, and 10, who are my regular models, despite the number of bribes I have to supply!
I started my photography business in 2018, photographing families and kids. I discovered Click Love Grow shortly after and once I did the courses it really helped me advance my skills to a more professional level and get my business off the ground.
Ready For The Next Steps
I did the Enthusiast Photography Course directly before I did the Advanced Photography Course.
I was happy with my progress after the Enthusiast Course, but I was ready to grow creatively.
I longed for the confidence to capture the kind of photos I envisioned, rather than simply following popular trends.
The Confidence to be Creative
Every time I do a creative shoot now I am continuously implementing a little bit of what I learned.
After the Advanced Course, my work went from good to mind blowing.
I can let loose and let that confidence take over, and I create magic that makes me so happy.
How The Advanced Course Changed My Photos
All the lessons related to lighting were lightbulb moments (so to speak!). It completely changed how I seek light, and notice little pockets of potential in less then perfect lighting situations.
It expanded my skills from only being able to shoot in perfect light, to being prepared for any situation.
My biggest takeaway from the course was gaining the confidence to let my creative freedom takeover in all my sessions.
It taught me to break the rules to create my vision, instead of trying to capture perfect “sit & smile” portraits. I now have the skills and confidence to approach portrait sessions in a looser way that enables me to draw out and capture real reactions and emotions.
Community & Photography
I have always felt a strong pull to give as much as I can to my community through my photography.
Living in a small town in rural Australia means not having support where it’s needed most, which I noticed when having my babies and needing breastfeeding support. So I started offering World Breastfeeding Week photoshoots in 2018. The first year it was just 6 mums, and buy 2023 I’d built up to over 50 mums.
In doing this, it has created a community and support for breastfeeding mothers who connect with others on the day, make new friends and get to continue their breastfeeding journey with more support, along with beautiful photos.
I have also photographed on significant days in the community and national calendar, including International Women’s Day, the local Mardi Gras & NAIDOC week events.
I have found a thrill out of entering my photography in competitions of all kinds, and have taken out titles and prizes along with having my work featured in calendars.
Why Choose Click Love Grow?
Everything I learnt before taking Click Love Grow’s courses was from Google, YouTube, and fellow photographers answering my random questions.
But CLG took my skills to the next level.
It’s structured so that you get bite sized learning rather than a whole heap of information thrown at you which you then have to decipher yourself.
I also love the community that comes with the private course group. There’s consistent posts and feedback from Lou and the instructor team, and other students all checking in on each other.
