I remember when I got my first “good” camera. It was pretty exciting because I had a baby girl and I planned to take beautiful photos of her as she grew… but the excitement turned to frustration very quickly when that camera didn’t produce the images I expected it to.
At first I wondered if there something wrong with my camera, but pretty soon I realised I just needed to get out of auto mode.
Easy! Right?
Cue more frustration as I tried to figure that out too. But overwhelmingly I just felt deflated. This dream I had of capturing my daughter’s life in light filled, crisp, gorgeous photos I could fill my walls with, and be proud to send to family, was crushed.
Change a few of the details, and that is the story of pretty much every student we’ve ever had. Including Subah Sinha, one of our Enthusiast Course grads who I’m excited to introduce you to today. Read on to discover how she went from that feeling of frustration and despair, to working professional as a family photographer…
I am Subah which means Morning. I’m a wife to a lovely and very supportive husband, and mum to 3 beautiful kids – 2 boys aged 7 and 4 years old, and my littlest baby girl aged 2 years. They keep me on my toes!
I migrated to Sydney, Australia over a decade ago from India. I was a dentist ages ago and now a family photographer in Sydney. I love coffee, travel and me time, and I love to take pictures.
Photography to me was a hobby. I loved to capture landscape pictures, and flowers used to be my models for sure. I got more in to photography when my husband and I travelled to Europe in 2015 and I borrowed a DSLR from my uncle. Unfortunately, I lost it in London and I was so sad!
Then when we returned to Sydney, I wanted to invest in a good camera, so I purchased an entry level Nikon DSLR.
After getting a new camera, I only knew auto mode but it wasn’t giving me those pictures I’d see from other photographers. It was hit and miss – big time. So, I started looking for some online photography courses.
I enroled in a few cheap and cheerful courses, and even a Nikon beginner’s workshop, but I swear I never understood a word!
I couldn’t get my head around the exposure triangle and it just never worked for me. So, I would always move back to auto. I got a few books to help and kept trying to learn, but I always felt something was missing from my photos.
Then when I had kids I tried to DIY their photos, and I got very frustrated wondering why can’t I take good photos?
And then one fine day, I came across Click Love Grow.
I used to get a lot of ads about CLG on my Facebook newsfeed. I would click, look at the ads and then forget about it. But one day, I did a full research, read reviews, and enrolled myself into their free course at first.
Then I joined the Click love grow Photography Group to see what it was like and oh my gosh! There were so many talented women who just want to help one another and this is what gave me confidence to enrol into the Enthusiast Course and I never looked back.
This is a course that works. The main difference is the CLG lessons and concepts are so thoughtfully written and explained, so you understand everything. You don’t get overwhelmed, and you get proper guidance.
It’s also full hands on as you get challenges to help you practice each lesson, then the instructors critique your photos and guide you on how to improve in such a positive way.
If I am being very honest, I loved all the lessons, especially the lesson about Light. After that my whole perspective about light changed! Wherever I am, wherever I go, first thing I notice is how pretty the light is, and golden light is just magical. The little details that Lou talks about in that topic are just WOW!
My biggest lightbulb moment, which came after the light lesson, was that the subject shouldn’t be placed facing the sun. I also remember Lou talking about how to find beautiful hues of pinks and reds and blues and I started to noticing that and visualising my subject in that space. I love shooting in golden hour and just adore the warmth that it gives to my photos.
Everything I thought I knew before the course is history now!
I would 100% recommend Click Love Grow to anyone who wants to learn photography. To anyone who thinks they don’t know even the ABC of the photography – go enrol with CLG for the Enthusiast Photography Course. Its so worth it and trust me you’ll be able to create all those photos that you see on Insta and Pinterest. Click Love Grow teaches you the recipe for great photos and then you to capture it according to your own taste.
Because of Click Love Grow – I am now a full-time professional Family & Newborn Photographer and I love my job. I get to spend time with my kids, be their full-time photographer and pursue my hobby as my job – its so rewarding!
A before and after shot is such a great visual way to show what a huge gamechanger our course can be for your photos, and I think you’ll agree Subah’s is amazing!
